USC offensive line tries to establish itself in August camp

USC fans are definitely concerned about the 2024 defense for the Trojans and what it will look like. A team can’t have horrendous defenses for several consecutive years, as the Trojans have endured, and not face significant uncertainties on that side of the ball. Yet, for all the question marks facing the defense, some USC analysts — myself very much included — think the offensive line is the true hinge point for the Men of Troy this year. If the offensive line thrives, the Trojans will not only score a lot, but they will maintain time of possession. The defense will not be overexposed, and the defense will not have to be spectacular, just fundamentally competent. The offensive line can put together all the pieces for this team in the Big Ten. With that, let’s look at what’s happening in USC football August preseason camp. RJ Abeytia of 247Sports offered a thorough report we’re going to assess:

RIGHT GUARD BATTLE

USC offensive line coach Josh Henson said this to Abeytia:

“We’ve got several candidates there. Amos Talalele, Alani Noa, Gino Quinones who’s a returning guy who’s played for us. Micah Banuelos is a young guy also. Those guys have been in the program. I wouldn’t even discount seeing Tobias Raymond in there at some point, maybe if that was something that presented itself.”
