No. 7 Oregon hosts Boise State in a late-night affair this Saturday as the Ducks are looking to bounce back from a sub-par performance in their season-opener against Idaho. Oregon won 24-14 but led by only three points as late as the fourth quarter as the offense struggled to finish drives and put the Vandals away.
“Different than we thought it would look like,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning said after the game. “Great teams are able to to learn from tight matches. This was a tight match, and we didn’t create some of the explosive plays I was hoping we could create offensively. Gave up a couple of critical plays on defense. So certainly some things to attack.”
They’ll certainly need to be tighter against a Boise State squad that put up 56 points last week in an 11-point road win over Georgia Southern. The Broncos are viewed by many as one of the favorites to win the Mountain West and possibly earn an invitation to the College Football Playoff. This game stands to serve as a stiff test for both sides.
