Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson will have an in-person hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Friday afternoon via videoconference.

The hearing stems from a Wilson high-stick on the Toronto Maple Leafs’ Noah Gregor during the third period of a Washington loss on Wednesday. He received a double minor penalty for swinging his stick and hitting Gregor in the face.

Wilson was offered the in-person hearing earlier Thursday, indicating a potential suspension of six games or more for the repeat offender.

Wilson, who turns 30 next week, has been suspended five times during his 11-year career with the Capitals, most recently in March 2021.

Wilson has recorded 32 points (17 goals, 15 assists) and 120 penalty minutes in 66 games this season. He has 327 points (145 goals, 182 assists) and 1,419 PIM in 746 games since the Capitals drafted him in the first round in 2012.

Information from Field Level Media was used in this report.
