Daniel Jones “felt good physically” in his 2024 preseason debut and first game action since Nov. 5, when he tore his ACL, but the Giants’ sixth-year quarterback acknowledged that he had work to do after Saturday’s 28-10 loss at the Houston Texans.
In last Thursday’s opener — New York’s 14-3 win over the Detroit Lions — Jones did not play, dressing but watching from the sideline while backups Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito completed a combined 12 of 25 passes for 95 yards and one interception.
Against the Texans, Jones was 11-of-18 passing with 138 yards and two interceptions — one returned for a touchdown, on a second-and-8 at the Giants’ 8-yard line at the first quarter’s 7:24 mark to put Houston up 7-0 over New York.

I wanted to make sure we had enough plays where we were throwing it down the field, giving opportunities to throw it down the field.
“Again, there was some good things — good to get him out here — and then a couple things we’ll learn from, and that’s what these things are for.”
The Giants play the Jets next Saturday at 7:30 p.m., each team’s preseason finale, before the regular season kicks off Sept. 8 against the Minnesota Vikings.
“I think you’re always trying to improve,” Jones said. “You’re always trying to improve, getting ready to go….
