Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh watches from the sideline beside off-field analyst Connor Stalions, right, during a game against the Ohio State Buckeyes at Ohio Stadium in 2022.
The Detroit News headline says all you need to know: Connor Stalions, ‘most hated man in college football,’ lands coaching job. Yes, the centerpiece of the scandal last season at Michigan is back in football. At a high school, no less.
Per the Detroit News:
Stalions is the new defensive coordinator at Detroit Mumford, new Mumford head football coach William McMichael told The Detroit News on Thursday.
“I got the most hated man in college football right now, Connor Stalions,” McMichael said. “He’s my defensive coordinator.”
For the few unaware, Stalions was attached to the probe that saw people attend future opponents of the Wolverines on tickets he allegedly purchased,
He is the subject of a Netflix documentary that will air later this month.
Connor Stalions has been fired by Michigan.
“… He’s outstanding,” said McMichael, who said Stalions works on his staff as a volunteer. “I think he knows Michigan’s defense just as well as anyone else who was there with (former defensive coordinator Jesse) Minter and all of those guys.
“He’s great with the kids, has an outstanding football mind and we’re learning a lot — not just the kids, but the coaching staff. He’s a great addition to what we’re doing. He can help prepare the kids for college. They are learning the lingo, how they practice in college and how they break down film, so it gives the kids an advantage.”
Um, sure.
