GAMEFACE 2024: LFC stars Bradley, Branch, Kimmel looking to lead teams

One athlete is already committed to play another sport in college, another is collecting scholarship offers and the third is a champion looking to achieve more in his final season.

Abington Heights quarterback Nick Bradley, Riverside lineman Tavian Branch and Lackawanna Trail defensive back Max Kimmel are the spotlight players for the 2024 high school season in the Lackawanna Football Conference. Each has carved a unique path to the start of this fall.

As a freshman, Bradley committed to continuing his baseball career at Auburn University.

A hard-throwing, 6-foot-2, 195-pound junior is also a star in football. His talents would likely attract college recruiters in that sport as well.

He made his first impression on the Abington Heights varsity team as a freshman. The coaching staff remained patient and helped him progress slowly. That season, Bradley completed 25 of 57 passes for 343 yards and two touchdowns.

In 2023, Bradley became the full-time starter. His quick release and velocity helped the Comets build the most productive passing game in the LFC.

He earned All-Region honors after completing 148 of 248 passes for 2,072 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also ran for 292 yards and four touchdowns. Bradley started the season with 251 yards passing and three touchdowns in a 31-28 loss to Dallas, which advanced to the PIAA Class 4A championship game.

Overall, Bradley threw for more than 100 yards in every game and had 227 yards passing against Scranton Prep, the top-rated defense in the LFC.

“I have the same drive when I am playing football as I do when I am playing baseball,” Bradley said. “I just want to do the best that I can for my teammates. I learned a ton last season. I got to see defenses all year and pick up on things, and I just got better and better.
