Georgia cornerback Daniel Harris was arrested Thursday night on misdemeanor driving charges, including reckless driving, per Athens-Clarke County Police records. Harris, who was released at 11:49 p.m. ET on bonds totaling $50, was also charged with affixing materials that reduce the visibility of windows/windshield, no proof of insurance and operation of an unregistered vehicle without a valid license plate.
According to police, Harris was driving at a speed of 106 mph.
Harris, a former four-star prospect in the Class of 2023 out of Miami, Florida, has played a key role in Georgia’s defensive rotation this season. The sophomore is one of the first cornerbacks off the bench and appeared against both Clemson and Tennessee Tech, tallying four total tackles.
Harris also played in six games as a true freshman last season and notched his first career tackle in Georgia’s win against Florida State in the Orange Bowl.
This marks the 21st separate incident since January 2023 that someone associated with the Georgia football program has been arrested on traffic-related offenses. Harris is the fifth Georgia player to be arrested on reckless driving charges since March. That number includes star running back Trevor Etienne Jr., who was suspended for Georgia’s season-opening win against Clemson. The former Florida transfer did return in Week 2 against Tennessee Tech and rushed for 78 yards on just five carries.
