Recruiting

Ohio State football has looked towards the transfer portal for its last two starters at quarterback, but it might be looking to change its luck in recruiting and retaining at the position.

Brady Edmunds, the second-best quarterback in the class of 2027, could change that perception. Edmunds has narrowed his finalists down to four programs to Cleveland.com’s Andrew Gillis.

The final four are Penn State, Michigan, Texas, and the Buckeyes, so there’s a good chance that Edmunds will be competing in the Big Ten later this decade.

Edmunds is ranked by 247Sports as the 14th-best player from the class of 2027. He’s from Huntington Beach, California, and he is playing his high school ball at Huntington Beach as well.

Edmunds is ranked as the third-best player from the state in the class. The Buckeyes haven’t received any commits from that class and only have one commit, Chris Henry Jr., from the Class of 2026.

Ohio State does have the second-best player in the nation and at quarterback in Tavien St. Clair joining the program in the Class of 2025, so adding a talent like Edmunds two years later could be perfect timing.

Chip Kelly is currently the one recruiting Edmunds, who has yet to take an official visit to Ohio State. He does already have an offer from the Buckeyes, among 20-plus other programs interested in adding the talented quarterback.
