STILLWATER — Saturday’s game arrived with heavy anticipation for what Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon II might be able to do against the Tulsa defense.
The answer? Alan Bowman was virtually unstoppable.
Gordon’s breakout game of his junior season is yet to pop, but Bowman threw five touchdown passes in carrying the Cowboys to a 45-3 win over Tulsa on Saturday at H.A. Chapman Stadium.
Bowman played just three quarters, but turned in one of his most productive days as the Cowboy quarterback with 396 yards on 24-of-31 passing (77.4%).

Oklahoma State wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling (1) receives the ball past Tulsa cornerback Keuan Parker (5) in the first half during an NCAA football game between Oklahoma State and Tulsa in Tulsa, Okla., on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024.

After rushing for over 100 yards in the season opener — but needing 28 carries to do it — Gordon has seen his production dip significantly since.
He finished Saturday with 41 yards on 17 carries, an average of 2.4 yards per carry.
The OSU rushing numbers got a boost late with third-stringer Trent Howland finding some running room in the fourth quarter to put the Pokes over 100 yards for the game.
He finished the game with 53 yards on 10 carries. Sesi Vailahi added a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter as well.
Stribling, Shettron pass 100-yard mark
Powered by touchdown catches of 63 and 78 yards, respectively, De’Zhaun Stribling and Talyn Shettron each surpassed the 100-yard mark in receiving.
Bowman spread the ball out well, completing passes to nine different receivers in his three quarters of play.
Stribling ended with 174 yards and two touchdowns on seven catches, while Shettron had 110 yards and a TD on three catches. The 78-yard touchdown was the second score…
