One of the final signs that the next college football and Big Ten season is upon us are the arrival of media days.
The 2024 Big Ten Football Media Days Presented by Old National Bank will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis from July 23-25. The three-day event will feature six Big Ten teams on each day this week.
Iowa football fans can look forward to hearing from the Hawkeyes on Wednesday, July 24. Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz will meet with the media for his annual media days press conference beginning at 10:45 a.m. CT on Wednesday.
Hawkeye fans can look forward to hearing from Iowa standouts Jay Higgins, Luke Lachey and Quinn Schulte throughout the day as well.
Higgins led the nation in tackles last season with 171 and tied an all-time Iowa single-season record. The fifth year linebacker from Indy has registered 217 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, five passes defensed, 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one interception throughout his Hawkeye career.
Lachey suffered a season-ending injury to his right ankle in Iowa’s 41-10 victory over Western Michigan last season and underwent surgery to repair it. The 6-foot-6, 247 pound senior tight end was on pace for a career season before suffering the injury.
Lachey has 46 receptions for 662 receiving yards and four touchdowns in his Iowa career. In his abbreviated 2023 season, Lachey caught 10 passes for 131 yards.
Lastly, Schulte helps anchor one of the nation’s best secondary units. The 6-foot-1, 209 pound graduate safety is a preseason second-team All-Big Ten choice per Athlon Sports. Schulte has tallied 136 tackles, 12 passes defensed, three tackles for loss and a pair of interceptions over the past two seasons.
Fans will be able to watch live on the Big Ten Network and on the FOX Sports App. As the media days unfold, fans can find photo galleries on…
